My Experience at 2017 Ag Awareness Day
Each year the University of Minnesota Agricultural Education Club brings the world of agriculture to the middle of Minneapolis, and April 11th saw hundreds of students stopping by Northrop Plaza to interact with livestock, Minnesota ag organizations, and student and faculty volunteers. 2017 was the 8th year of the event’s existence, and featured over 20 interactive booths, as well as calves, pigs, llamas, sheep, goats, rabbits, and chickens!
When asked why the Ag Ed Club hosts the event, particularly in the middle of the Minneapolis campus, a rep responded “Agriculture is part of YOUR life. Ag Awareness Day is your chance to find out how.” Growing up on a livestock farm, I had a blast interacting with the exhibitors and showing my friends how Minnesota agriculture affects them.
PS. Thanks Minnesota Soybean Growers for the hat
