My experience as a DuPont Pioneer Intern

The summer after my sophomore year of college, I had an internship with DuPont Pioneer as a Sales and Marketing Intern. My journey with Pioneer began during the summer after my freshman year. I was interested in the company and knew a few people that worked for them. So, I reached out and set up multiple job shadows with people at Pioneer during that summer. I believe that taking advantage of this networking opportunity was crucial in getting the internship for the next summer. It showed high interest and I ended up interviewing with someone that I had previously met. I had a great experience in the interview process and the onboarding process.
During the summer, I had nearly unlimited job shadow opportunities. I had a mentor assigned to me that helped me throughout the summer and I worked with him most days to figure out a plan. I spent nearly 70% of my summer in the field learning a lot about different agronomy topics throughout the different growing stages. I then had the opportunity to put various deliverables together based on current research being collected. Additionally, I got to meet with various farmers, sales reps and Pioneer employees. Overall, it was a highly valuable experience and would strongly recommend an internship with them in the future.
